Once again something that may seem completely normal to us it being made out to be vigilante justice. Defending ones self, especially in ones home should never be viewed as weird or even worth mentioning because this should be an unalienable right of all citizens of this great country.

A Wisconsin sheriff is telling citizens that dialing 911 may not be adequate protection from a home invader. He states that citizens should arm themselves and be prepared to defend themselves if necessary. Once again, if someone is breaking down your door and coming inside to kill or rape your family you can call the police, but they will only be there in time to photograph the damage not stop the crime. However a citizen who is ready for such a situation can prevent this evil action from occurring by meeting the treat with forceful and adequate action. For me this is common sense and even if castle doctrine wasn’t applicable to my current residence, I would defend myself with any action I deemed necessary and dealt with the consequences later. I for one would be happy to spend any time in jail if it meant safeguarding my family’s well being. Family is the most important thing in this world.

However, the media and officials are trying to portray this action as absurd and board-lining on vigilante action. Here’s a quote from the original article, found here,

That doesn’t sound too smart,” Felber said. “People have the right to defend themselves, but they don’t have the right to take the law into their own hands.”

Felber is the President of the deputy sheriff’s association. If someone breaks into my home, I have to take the law into my own hands to ensure that my family’s rights and lives as well as my own are protected from those who would do harm to them. If you stand back and hide you are at the mercy of your assailant. I cannot fathom why self defense is now viewed as boarder line illegal.

I believe that if every citizen would take a proactive measure in protecting themselves there would be less crime. For example, would you rob houses if you knew everyone had armed citizens inside of them capable and willing to defend themselves with deadly force? I don’t think so. Would you mug people walking down the street if everyone was carrying either open or concealed? I don’t think so. Crime rates are high in “gun free zones” because the criminals know they automatically have an advantage on all law abiding citizens. However, where citizens can be arms crime is always lower.

To the Wisconsin sheriffs: I wish more citizens were ready to defend themselves. I pray that your message is heard, understood and citizens follow through by arming themselves so they can defend themselves from all threats, domestic or foreign.
