When did our society change from the mentality that each of us should pick ourselves up from our own boot straps instead of the current mentality of what can the government do for me. Continue reading “Personal Accountability” »

Sad Feinstein
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has decided that a proposed assault weapons ban won’t be part of a gun control bill the Senate plans to debate next month, the sponsor of the ban said Tuesday, a decision that means the ban stands little chance of survival. This is a good sign, but it isn’t over yet!
Feinstein says she will attempt to add her proposed ban in the senate as an amendment to the bill. She will need 60 votes in the senate to make this happen. Of the 100 votes in Senate there are 53 Dems and 2 Independent that vote with Dems on most bills. Giving Feinstein the possibility of 55 of the 60 votes needs, this of course is assuming that its a party line vote and is not taking into account any moderate Dems. This means you need to pressure your Senators to make sure if this passes the house this does not get traction in the Senate and pressure your House Reps.

Those of you who know me know that I am hard book to read. I have a large heart and am capable of empathy. I am also quick to scorn and burn those who would do those I care for harm. I believe in small government, low taxes, less of the government regulating the citizens and more of the citizens regulating the government, and I believe in the constitution as it was pinned by our founders. In the early 90′s before the Assault Weapons Ban, when the internet was just making headway, an individual by the name of J. Neil Schulman took it upon himself to have the 2nd Amendment analyzed by a linguistics expert, renowned Journalist Dr. Roy Copperud, and “rewritten” in the language of today. Here’s what he found. The Obama Administration along with the House and Senate Democrats who are behind strict gun control laws including the so called “Assault Weapons Ban” are constantly berating our guns as “military style” weapons that “don’t belong on our streets.” A simple fact-check of that one crucial statement disproves their entire agenda. The War on Guns continues today as House Democrats unveil their own bill to further infringe the Second Amendment Rights of the American People. The bill, which will be introduced in a matter of hours, mirrors the Feinstein ban in the Senate along with the creation of a national gun registry in the form of “universal background checks” and other measures that coincide with the twenty-three executive orders issued by the President. After having the Sandy Hook Elementary Choir sing at the Superbowl, President Obama will head to Minnesota tomorrow (Monday, Feb 4) to kick off his anti-2nd Amendment campaign, featuring none other than his original 2012 campaign team and supporters such as Senator Feinstein and the rest of their Washington based disconnected-from-America gun grabbing friends and lobbyists. In a financial times like these you would believe that the government should be doing everything in its power to generate new jobs which will put Americans back to work, creating even more jobs and opportunities for everyone. This is trickle down economics and is a very successful strategy for economic development, but I digress. However, our federal government has been passing / talking about various legislation which does the exact opposite. They have been passing additional regulations and taxes which will reduce the number of Americans working.
I was watching a speech given to a Connecticut gun task force where a father was speaking. This father lost a son who was killed in the sandy hook shooting. It was understandable if this father would have given a speech blaming firearms and that they were the sole reason his son is no longer with him. However, this brave patriot took an entirely different tact and for that I salute him.
